Wholelook.com - vers 3.1.6
Websites are a place where you come and sic, 'Do something'.
At Whole Look the 'something' you do is surf the Internet to your
heart's content. Which automatically makes Wholelook one of the best possible home page
websites for your browser.
(Please note that Wholelook.com is a work in
progress and will be for awhile).
At the moment Whole Look
is basically a static Bookmarking site where we have chosen the bookmarks. A
Full fledged bookmarking version is in the works whereby you will be able to
add and delete links you want to your heart's content. You will also be able
to customize the Whole Look's look and feel to your heart's content. Then it
will the optimum Home Page, because it will be 'Your' home Page.
Wholelook.com is also one of the first full browsing website since the mid
nineties. It is intended for easy browsing on the Internet. We have tried to
make Whole look as novel, useful, and as innovative as possible. Basically,
all the main Search Engine and Social Internet websites are right at your
fingertips plus a myriad of other useful and relevant players.
A simple 'return to Home
Page' bar has been placed at the top of most links from Whole Look so you
can return to the Wholelook Home Page in one click no matter how deep into
other websites you may have surfed. Use the browser 'Back' arrow to return
to your previous location in Wholelook. use the 'Home' icon to return to the
top of the home page.
Wholelook.com is the
result of legal litigation which went south. The original intended URL was
Look.com. But Look.com became diverted in 2003, and eventually bare faced
stolen outright in 2007. I tired to self litigate. But as anybody who has
been at the receiving end of that particular potfull of potash knows all too
well, I ended up getting the nuclear end of the finger.
(See - 'The Short and Sorry Saga of Look.com' under Controversial issues
down the center column).
Now about Wholelook.com
In the old days Search
Engine websites such as Yahoo, Netscape, Excite and Alta Vista were the
portals through which you accessed the Internet. Each home page offered a
search bar plus myriads of links both common and arcane to all parts of the
Internet for your surfing pleasure. When Microsoft Explorer came along, they positioned it as a
portal, and over time, most of the original search engine portals dropped
the portal aspect altogether and are now just simple search engines boxes in
the format pioneered by Google.
The term portal has
now been commandeered as the generic term used for any website, as it is in
effect sic, the portal to that company's or person's own stuff. To surf
around on the internet now requires keeping bookmarks or favourites saved
everywhere at best, or having a darn good memory for typing the URLs
manually into your browser every time at worst. Search Engines Yahoo, MSN
and a few others have retained the portal aspect rather than just a search
bar, but only offer daily news and titillations plus their own stuff. Whole
Look has turned it all around by making getting you out to the internet it's
stuff.
Wholelook has therefore
gone back to the original idea of the website having a complete Internet
portal capability. In that respect, not only does Whole Look have a search
bar presenting items not usually found in the major engines, but all of the
major engines are only one click away under the search box. You can
literally search the whole web in minutes for a particular item. You simply
need to use the back space button on your browser to get back to the Whole
Look home page from any location in the Web. You can also use the "Home"
icon or Wholelook Logo in any of the Whole Look back pages where the Logo and icon links
are still present.
Since one of the main
topics of interest in today's web is Social Networking, called Social
Internet websites or also W 2, Wholelook puts all of the major Social
Internet websites just one click away at the top of the home page. Anther
collection of the more common W 2 sites are down the left side of the home
page. Under the "More" button at the bottom of the list are another sixty.
You get the picture.
Whole Look is also unique in offering a
full size color Cartoon on the home page which changes every day. Wholelook also
includes a number of little punch-in jokes on the home page
which also change every day, plus a piano keyboard and side list of a number
of additional joke type features which also change every day. Whole look
also offers a Daily Article, Daily Famous Birthday, Daily Picture and Daily
Astronomy features which likewise change every day for your musement.
For those of you who have things of
specific interest in Yahoo, MSN etc., Whole look also offers direct links on
the home page. One click on the back space button of your browser and you
are back in Whole Look.
Visa vis to that, Whole Look also
provides a number of interesting but more arcane links to website across the
web offering alternate viewpoints and information from that provided by the
mainstream medias, which most people probably don't even know exist. The
links are provided in assorted collected sets throughout the home page.
Albeit that the links in each set are pre-chosen, most sets offer the most
relevant or popular sites in their category. Whole
Look also provides a very extensive coverage of conventional Daily World
News though a range of topics via linkages at the top right of the home
page, and a "News" icon above the search bar.
Whole Look finishes by
offering a number of links for pass time and amusements in case you have a lot of
time on your hands and nothing to fill it with. All in all, consider Whole look
as a control panel where you can browse the entire web day after day without ever
having to leave Whole Look. We've also tried to make Wholelook ergonomically
practical with soft fonts and curvy headings and cosmic background giving
Whole Look a somewhat of a distinctive 3D effect. Plus Wholelook has a
lot of open space rather than having as much information as possible compressed
into the smallest space possible in a blaring assault to your senses. You will not feel
beaten up at the end of the day of using Wholelook.com, and you will never have to
spend two days later uncrossing your eyes.
